Taking a Break on 12.10.19 - Responsiveness

I had a thought, so figured I'd take a second to jot something down about it.

As I'm writing about my early life, I'm realizing how excited I am to move away from "looking back" at my life and into writing about my present observations.

There are many moments throughout my days where I learn small tidbits of valuable information that could help others down the road.  Many of these tidbits do not get translated into my video blog due to their small and unorganized nature.  Often times, I'll forget to include them on the recaps or they'll get overlooked by larger topics.

Here's an example from today:

Every time someone responds quickly to a text message, phone call, or (most notably) an email, it feels incredible to other party.

Having experienced communication with people who

  1. do not respond quickly,

  2. people who only respond when it's obvious a response is required,

  3. and people who respond regardless of the circumstances,

the latter (#3) always makes me feel best.

This may seem like a simple thing, but the importance of responsiveness oftentimes outweighs the actual content of the discussion itself.  I tend to respond to people with things as simple as "received" or "acknowledged" to maintain that heightened level and value of communication.

TLDR - Responsiveness, regardless of content, has massive value in all walks of life.
